“I being in the way, the LORD led me…”   (Genesis 24:27)

May 27, 2026

Dear Faithful Friends,

Moving Forward

The two most difficult situations in which we Christians find ourselves is change and waiting.  Change is very intimidating because it leads to the unknown.  When we first begin a ministry or project, we struggle to find the best and fastest way to perform.  With the passing of time, the process becomes a normal routine.  Change means leaving things that have become automatic and simple to again face the “learning curve”.  It can be confusing and threatening, but when we are doing the Lord’s will, we can have peace and confidence that He will again lead us in the best steps to perform and complete the work.

Waiting is humbling because it means surrendering to the higher Authority.  We look at the conditions around us with our perfect plan stretched before our mind wondering when the Lord will allow us to put it into practice.  There we sit while it appears that He is ignoring us.  This is especially hard when a person has been very involved in the work.  The Lord is not through using you because you are still on the playing field, but your part in the plan has not been revealed.  In your mind, it seems that, with so much to do, time is being wasted.  However, the Lord is allowing his servant to be prepared for the moment of His choice.  It may be that your plan is exactly what needs to be done, but it must be done at the right moment.  Therefore, the waiting game must take place.

Waiting and changing do not mean idleness because while we wait, we should still serve.  We stay active in simple things to be ready for the more complicated.  Waiting leads to God’s perfect change and victory.  When we look at things this way, we can “give thanks in all things”, even the waiting and changing.

This is where Linda and I find ourselves.  God has been good to meet our every need and allow us to be used in simple ways for His glory.  What our place is in His plan for the game, we will see in His time.  It will be as wonderful as the past opportunities, and we will be able praise Him for it.
